One Kearny is a 110,000 square foot Class A historic office building in downtown San Francisco developed by the Fang Family. The original building, the Mutual Bank Building, was built in 1902 and survived the 1906 earthquake. In 1964, American architect Charles Moore designed a post-modern addition to the original structure. The 2009 addition designed by Chuck Bloszies included a new building that acted as a seismic buttress to the remaining historic building and full seismic upgrade and renovation of the entire structure.
More About Project
The project qualified for Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credits as the renovation was consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation. The San Francisco Chronicle’s John King said that the renovation of One Kearny has “…a spirit, a quiet pride in putting well-crafted materials to use.” The upper floors are full floor tenant or multi-tenant office space. The rooftop is a special event space. The basement, ground floor and second floor are for office, retail and restaurant opportunities.
